Dodge RAM SRT 10 Engine Specs, Price – The Dodge Ram SRT 10 was created by the DaimlerChrysler division, using engineers Dodge Viper and Plymouth Prowler. Extensive wind tunnel tests were used to style the exterior of the Ram SRT-10. This is the second time Dodge has installed a Viper engine in a Ram pickup. At the 1996 Chicago Auto Show, Dodge introduced a Dodge Ram concept with a Viper Generation 2 engine, but it was not put into production. The Dodge Ram VTS was painted Banzai blue with two white skunk strips, a 8.0-liter V10 (488 cid), a Borg-Warner six-speed manual transmission, and 172 mm (432 mm) Viper GTS wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich 275 / Tires 60-HR17 Comp T / A HR4.

The V10 Viper engine produced 90% of its torque between 1500 and 5600 rpm. The cast aluminum cylinder block had cast iron jackets and transverse bolt head caps. The bore and stroke had been increased compared to previous Viper models. The compression ratio, firing order, rod length, height and block length were unchanged from the second generation Viper engine. The normal cabin was equipped with a Tremec T-56 gearbox, while the Quad Cab was equipped with a modified 48RE automatic gearbox modified from the Ram Heavy Duty gearbox. Regular Cabs and Quad Cabs used a Dana 60 rear axle.

The all-new V-10 engine produces 525 lb-ft 90 percent of torque from 1500 to 5,600 rpm. The aluminum-cast cylinder block has a cast iron liner that matches the interference and the main lid is crossed. Both bore and stroke have increased compared to previous Viper models. Block length, block height, bore distance, combustion sequence, stem length, and compression ratio remain the same.

The Viper V-10 includes six main crankshaft bearings with increased stroke length and a cross-bolt main bearing cap. The new cast aluminum alloy piston weighs slightly less than in previous years, and the new cracked steel connecting rod is lighter but stronger.

Ram features a new Hurst shift relationship and a modified version of the Tremec T56 Viper SRT-10 six-speed manual transmission. The T56 is fully synchronized, with electronic reverse locking. The new driveshaft ran into the Viper source transmission, and the modified differential with the 4.10 rear axle delivered torque to the road. SRT-10 displays the Dodge Ram framework fully hydroformed, one of the most rigid in the industry, and a suspension that has fallen one inch in front and two inches behind.

New front and rear strut assemblies and rear swing bars are added to handle increased cornering loads. Bilstein shock absorbers, performance-adjusted springs, 22-inch custom “Viper-style” wheels, and 305/40 Pirelli Scorpion tires help keep the ride smooth and stable. Standard brakes equipped with ABS are equipped with a new 15-inch rotor on the front, while the rear brakes feature a modified 14-inch Heavy Duty Ram rotor. Both are equipped with unique red calipers. The new Ram front fascia also includes a brake channel to provide plenty of cooling for the track session.
